Common questions about PASS100, its certificates, and how to get help.
Is PASS100 really mandatory?
Yes. All new undergraduate students must complete the TrustOpen Online Learning Starter Certificate (Modules 1–3, the Simulation, and the Readiness Check) before registering for their first credit-bearing course. The full course (all six modules and the Portfolio) is optional but strongly recommended.
How long does PASS100 take?
The mandatory Starter Certificate portion takes about 3–4 hours. The full course, including all six modules and the Personal Success Plan Portfolio, takes 6–8 hours. The course is self-paced.
What if I don't pass the Readiness Check or the Final Readiness Check?
You can retake any assessment as many times as you need. There is no penalty for a first attempt — the assessments are designed to confirm your understanding, not create barriers. Every assessment in the course has unlimited attempts.
Can I start my credit course before finishing PASS100?
No. A registration hold remains in place until you complete the TrustOpen Online Learning Starter Certificate. Once you pass the Readiness Check with 80% or higher, the hold is automatically removed.
Is the Full Readiness Certificate (Modules 4–6) required?
Only the Starter Certificate is mandatory. However, we strongly recommend completing all six modules. The additional modules provide comprehensive preparation for long-term academic success — including support services, academic integrity, and personal success planning.
How do I access PASS100?
Once you are admitted to TrustOpen and enrolled in PASS100, you can access the course through your My portal or directly through this website. You'll need your TrustOpen student credentials to log in.

Will my progress be saved if I close the browser?
Yes. Your progress — including completed lessons, passed quizzes, saved portfolio responses, and simulation activity completions — is saved as you go. You can return at any time and continue where you left off.
How do I get a digital badge or certificate?
Badges are awarded automatically when you meet the completion criteria. Visit the Starter Certificate Award page or your Dashboard Certificates page to view, print, download, or share them.
What if I've already taken a similar course elsewhere?
Contact an Academic Advisor to discuss whether any prior learning can be recognised toward PASS100's requirements.
